 Maja Kocijancic is a Spokesperson for the EU's Foreign Affairs, Security Policy and European Neighbourhood Policy as well as Enlargement Negotiations since November 2014, working with High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini as well as Commissioner Johannes Hahn. Previously, she was a Spokesperson of the former High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Catherine Ashton (2010-2014). Before joining the EU institutions, she was working for the Slovenian Foreign Ministry and was posted at the Permanent Representation of Slovenia to the EU in Brussels (2006-2010) as a Spokesperson. She was the Spokesperson for the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2008. She first came to Brussels in 2001 as a correspondent for the Slovenian Press Agency, covering both the EU and NATO. Early in her career she worked as a journalist in Slovenia and assistant lecturer at the University of Ljubljana. She holds BA in journalism and MA in International Relations.
