Martin Knobbe is the Berlin Bureau chief and head of the political department for the German weekly newsmagazine Der Spiegel. He received a master of arts in history, political science and economic history from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. As a freelance writer and founder of the journalist office "schreib.maschine" he worked for several newspapers, magazines and broadcasters and visited from 1999 to 2001 the Henri-Nannen-School of Journalism. From 2001 to 2010 he worked as a reporter for the German newsweekly stern and was stern’s US Correspondent in New York from 2010 to 2015 before he started at Der Spiegel as a reporter. He is co-author of a book published in 2007 entitled "Terrorjahr 1977: Die Geschichte der Roten Armee Fraktion" (1977 The Year of Terrorism - The History Of The Red Army Faction). In 2009 he was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University. |
