| Olli Rehn joined the current college of Commissioners in February 2010 as European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, and in October 2011 he was appointed Vice-President of the Commission responsible for Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Euro. | |
| Before that he served as Commissioner for Enlargement (November 2004 - February 2010) and Commissioner for Enterprise and Information Society (July - November 2004). He was the Head of Cabinet of Commissioner Erkki Liikanen between 1998 and 2002. | |
| In 2002-2003 Olli Rehn worked as Professor at the Department of Political Science, University of Helsinki. | |
| He was a member of the Finnish Parliament from 1991 until 1995, when he also chaired the Finnish delegation to the Council of Europe. He was a member of the European Parliament in 1995-96. He was deputy chairman of the Centre Party in 1988-94 and chairman of the Centre Youth in 1987-89. | |
| Olli Rehn has a D.Phil. in international political economy from Oxford University (1996) and an MA in political science from the University of Helsinki (1989). In 1982-1983 he studied economics, international relations and journalism at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. |
