Mit dem südlichen Korridor verfolgte man das Ziel, die Gasimporte der EU zu diversifizieren, und hob so auch die Rolle der Türkei als Transitland hervor. Angesichts des Stopps in den Beitrittsverhandlungen mit Ankara können andere Kooperationsmöglichkeiten untersucht werden. Wie können die EU und die Türkei kooperieren, um ihre Energiesicherheit zu verbessern? Wird die Türkei die Rolle eines Energieknotenpunktes zwischen Westen und Osten spielen? Hat Ankara Interesse daran, die Regeln des europäischen Marktes in der gesamten Region zu verbreiten? Können die EU und die Türkei gemeinsame Grundlagen für ihre Klimapolitik finden?
