Internationale Krisensituationen verlangen nach einer raschen Reaktion, aber EU-Mitglieder sind bislang immer wieder daran gescheitert, gemeinsam zu reagieren. Die vor Kurzem stattgefundenen EU-Wahlen und bevorstehende Änderungen in der politischen Landschaft der Union haben eine weitreichende Debatte über eine gemeinsame Entscheidungsfindung in der Außenpolitik ausgelöst. Inwiefern können die EU und ihre Mitgliedstaaten diese neue Möglichkeit nutzen, um eine gemeinsame Außenpolitik voranzutreiben?

Dr. Zanda Kalnina-Lukasevica serves as a Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia since 2014. She represents the government of Latvia at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meetings of Development Ministers and EU Foreign Affairs Council meetings of Trade Ministers. Parliamentary Secretary ensures communication of the Ministry with the Latvian Parliament (Saeima) and the European Parliament. During Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (2015) Dr. Kalnina-Lukasevica was the representative of the Council at the European Parliament plenary sessions. | |
