Traditionelle Gesundheitsinterventionen in konfliktträchtigen Regionen scheinen zu scheitern. Die zunehmende Gewalt gegen Gesundheitspersonal deutet auf ein Misstrauen gegenüber traditioneller Gesundheitsmaßnahmen hin. Anhand konkreter Beispiele von der Demokratischen Republik Kongo versuchen wir zu verstehen wie Konflikte des 21. Jahrhunderts funktionieren und wie wir am besten mit diesen umgehen.

Vinh-Kim NGUYEN

Vinh-Kim Nguyen is a medical anthropologist and physician who works in infectious diseases and emergency care. Over the past five years he has been involved conflict medicine in the Middle East and in the response to Ebola epidemics in Africa. He continues to practice acute care medicine in Canada and with Médecins sans Frontières, teaches Anthropology and Global Health in Geneva, and conducts research on barriers to the elimination of infectious diseases. He is Vice President of MSF Switzerland and incoming Director of the Global Health Centre at the Graduate Institute in Geneva. |
Micaela SERAFINI

Micaela Serafini, an Argentinean medical doctor specialized in Internal Medicine, started working with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in 2004. Since then she worked in many different countries, in a variety of diseases such HIV/AIDS, TB, Cholera, Malaria, Ebola, Meningitis and Measles and in different contexts, from long term programmes to outbreak response. She complemented her practical experiences with formal training and obtained first the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and later the master’s in public health in Developing Countries at the LSHTM. In 2014, Micaela became medical director for MSF Switzerland. |
