Dr. Clara NEPPEL

| Dr. Clara Neppel is the Senior Director of the IEEE European office in Vienna, where she is responsible for the growth of IEEE's operations and presence in Europe, focusing on the needs of industry, academia, and government. Clara serves as a point of contact for initiatives with regard to technology, engineering and related public policy issues that help implementing IEEE's continued global commitment to fostering technological innovation for the benefit of humanity. Clara joined IEEE after many years with the European Patent Office where she was involved in various aspects relating to innovation, intellectual property and public policy in the field of information and communication technologies. She co-authored publications both in the field of patentability of computer implemented inventions as well as possible future scenarios of the patent system. Before joining the Office she worked in research, in the area of parallel database optimization, and in industry, as program manager for archiving solutions. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich and a Master in Intellectual Property Law and Management from the University of Strasbourg. |

Lucilla SIOLI

| Ms Lucilla Sioli is the Director for "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Industry" within Directorate-General CONNECT at the European Commission. The mission of the Directorate is to strengthen Europe's competiveness ensuring that any industry in any sector in Europe can make the best use of digital innovations to grow, compete on a global scale, and create jobs. She is responsible for the coordination of the European digitisation of industry strategy and for policy development in the area of artificial intelligence (AI). The directorate also supports R&D&I in key digital industrial technologies including microelectronics, embedded software, photonics, robotics and AI. Previously, she was Head of Unit for "Digital Economy and Skills" at DG Connect, responsible for the publication of the Digital Economy and Society Index and of the annual Europe's Digital Progress Report as well as for the management of digital skills policy through the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition. Lucilla holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Southampton and one from the Catholic University of Milan and has been a civil servant with the European Commission since 1997. |

| Initially stemming from the humanities and holding a degree in philosophy of science, working several years as scientists in the Humanities and as Management Consultant with A.T. Kearney he joined the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) in late nineties. He is currently Head of Department for ICT, Industrial & Nano Technologies and Space. Main responsibility of this department covers the design of Innovation Policies for High-Tech-Industries, national R&D strategies and programs in these domains, and all areas of International R&D Policy and Coordination. Among others he acts as Austrian Delegate to the European ICT-Program, as Governance Board Member of the JTI s ECSEL, as Director of the EUREKA Clusters. ITEA 3 and CATRENE and Austrian Lead Delegate to the Key Enabling Technologies. He represents Austria in various Mirror-Groups of European Technology Platforms and in several European Policy Coordination Initiatives. |
