Banking Seminar

-

It is almost a commonplace to say that the banking industry is going through a process of change. Besides the profound transformations effected by mergers and new legislation, financial service providers are also facing major changes brought about by the advent of modern communication technologies. Internet banking appears to be at the focus of attention, but there are many problems yet to be overcome. Distributors, for example, are faced with the question of how to incorporate the Internet as a sales channel into an overall distribution policy. Security issues are far from solved, and the organisational implications tend to be underestimated. Above all, the Internet - as a medium that can be accessed from any place in the world - is bound to lead to intensified competition. The Banking Seminar intends to show up possible solutions to these problems and hopes to discuss ways and means of identifying feasible options for the banking industry in a situation characterised by extremely diverse development trends.
