Health Symposium

"Europe - Strength and Weakness" is the general topic of the European Forum Alpbach as well as of the Health Symposium 2005, which will explore this topic with an especially international orientation this year.

What are Europe's strengths and weaknesses in medical research? Is it true that Europe has lost ground compared to the US in terms of research competence, and if so, what are the reasons behind this loss?

A second set of discussions will investigate the differences and various demands of Europe's health care systems. What are the problems of the "old" EU member states, and what challenges will the new member states face?

Finally, we will also discuss the extent to which Europe is responsible for and capable of helping the developing countries and improving health care in those countries. All of these topics will be addressed by renowned speakers from Austria and abroad.
