Seminar Week

-

The European Forum Alpbach displayed uncanny foresight when it chose "Trust" as its general theme for this year. For an analysis of the financial crisis, which looks set to remain the most burning international issue through 2009, is impossible without a thorough inquiry about the phenomenon of trust. The question of trust is equally important in politics today, whether you look at it on a national, continental or global level.

The European Forum Alpbach 2009 will give its participants a choice of 14 one-week seminars which will analyse the phenomenon of trust as seen from a variety of academic fields.

The Alpbach Seminars are designed by the Advisory Board of the European Forum Alpbach under the chairmanship of Peter Christian Aichelburg, University of Vienna. The first week of the European Forum Alpbach thus offers the opportunity for intense discussion related to the general topic. Researchers from a wide variety of fields come to Alpbach for presentations and discussions. Plenary sessions on academic, political and economic issues complete the programme.
