Decision Making in the EU
-We are constantly talking about Europe and the European Union - but do we really know what it is and how it works? Do we have the basic knowledge needed in order to understand the complex decision making processes in the EU?
This year, two events will deal with the institutional structure of the EU and tackle the question of what decision making processes in the EU look like. Who has a say? Who is assigned to perform which task? How can the institutions reach a solution together? The introductory event on Sunday, August 18, will address all of these questions. Representatives of the EU
institutions will take a stand in a roundtable discussion followed by a more informal Get Together. This will give the Alpbach audience the opportunity to approach them with further questions about the EU and its actors. On Saturday, August 24, we invite you not only to talk, but also to participate actively when it comes to decision making processes in the EU. In a simulation game, we invite you to get involved in those procedures themselves by simulating the decision-making process around a specific topic.
Comment: Both events will be conducted entirely in English. You can hand in your preliminary registration for the simulation game until 17 August 2013, 22:00 by filling in the form at http://goo.gl/waOGDv
