Tyrol Day

Tyrol Day 2006 will be devoted to the topic of "Research Excellence at Universities in Tyrol:

Biosciences as a Case in Point". Life sciences (biosciences, pharmacy, biotechnology, medical engineering, medical information technology), which have a long-standing history in Tyrol, have become increasingly dynamic in recent years. This topic will first be discussed from a political perspective, afterwards researchers fromLeopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck (LFUI), Medical-University-Innsbruck (MUI) and Tiroler Landesuniversität UMIT will give an overview of current life science research areas and present the Center for Molecular Biosciences established at LFUI in 2005 as well as MUI s Biocenter. In addition renowned representatives from the industry will present how modern life sciences are embedded in the Tyrolean economy. A poster exhibition of life science startups and Tyrolean spin-offs will also give viewers an idea of how knowledge is actively transferred from the university to the business world.
