University Forum

The University Forum of 2011 will offer a comprehensive overview of the achievements of Austrian universities in the fields of food and nutrition.

The focus will be on topics linked to food production and consumption. Since the general topic of the European Forum Alpbach is »Justice - Responsibility for the future«, the University Forum will also address ethical issues concerning food distribution. The growth of the world population demands flexible food production systems which are in line with environmental protection and food safety requirements. A series of key messages from leading academics will highlight the wide spectrum of research in this field. Furthermore, the great variety of possible applications will be outlined.
