Economic Symposium
-The Economic Symposium 2012 will shed light on the future of the social welfare state in Europe. How effective and financially sound are the European social systems, and how can we deal with demographic and economic challenges effectively? Which systemic changes are necessary in order to make our social welfare systems sustainable and secure in the future?
With a focus on political reflections as well as practical answers, the Economic Symposium will present best practices from a range of European countries. Which approaches are particularly successful when planning and implementing social security measures? The second focus will be on the issue of intergenerational justice: How can it be defined and which political steps are necessary to distribute rights and duties between the generations in a fair way?
In another economic policy panel we will discuss the question of how to define sustainable financial and social welfare policies for Europe. Finally, two high-ranking speakers will present ways to overcome the crisis by strengthening Europe.
