Aleksandar Vučić was born on March 5, 1970, in Belgrade. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, in 1994. He joined the Serbian Radical Party in 1993. The same year he was elected an MP into the National Assembly. In 1998 he was appointed for the Minister of Information, by the Government of National Unity. Together with Tomislav Nikolić, in October 2008 he founded the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). After general parliamentary elections in May 2012, he was appointed for the Minister of Defense and the First Deputy Prime Minister. In September 2012 he was elected for the President of the SNS. After the electoral victory in March 2014, he was appointed for the Prime Minister. He started new term as the Prime Minister after the elections in April 2016. He won the Presidential elections on 2 April 2017 and began his five years term on 1 June 2017. He is fluent in English and Russian, with basic knowledge of French and he is studying German. He is married and has three children. |
