Barbara Imhof is currently the project manager of the arts-based research project "Biornametics" - Architecture Defined By Natural Patterns and is collaborating with the University of Applied Arts, the Centre for Biomimetics, Reading, UK, the Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM, National University of Malaysia) and the University of Technology in Vienna. | |
With her team of experts at LIQUIFER Systems Group she has won and worked on several design research projects for the Austrian Space Agency, the European Space Agency, Thales Alenia Space, Departure Creative Industries, Vienna and other organisations and industrial companies. | |
She has a more than a ten-year-track of teaching at renowned Universities such as Chalmers University Gothenburg, Sweden, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, University of Applied Arts, Vienna and eight years with Helmut Richter at the University of Technology Vienna. | |
Barbara Imhof was educated in Vienna (studio Professor Wolf D. Prix), Bartlett School, London, SCI-ARC, Los Angeles and obtained her Master Degree in Space Studies from the International Space University. She also holds a PhD in architecture from the University of Technology Vienna. | |
Her projects and designs are concerned with themes based on space flight parameters, such as living with limited resources, minimal and transformable spaces, life support systems as well as the implication of behavioral and psychological factors. |
