| Current research interests include (1) contemporary American and Canadian fiction (Native American/ First Nations literatures; transnational cultural memory); (2) instruments of culture (role and function, impact and influence of American publishers and periodicals; American "middlemen" of letters); (3) reception of American literature and culture in Europe in a comparative, transnational perspective. Most recently, he has contributed two chapters to Four Centuries of Dutch-American Relations, 1609-2009, edited by Hans Krabbendam, Cornelis A. Van Minnen & Giles Scott-Smith (2009), on the reception of American literature in the Netherlands, 1800-1900 and 1900-1950. | |
