1997 Habilitation thesis focused on processing and properties of TiAl based alloys
1998 Became Professor at the Institute for Physical Metallurgy of the University of Stuttgart
2000-2003 Head of the Institute for Materials Research, GKSS Research Center, Geesthacht, Germany, in a joint appointment as full Professor at the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel, Germany
2003 Joined the University of Leoben, Austria
since 2004 Head of the Department of Physical Metallurgy and Materials Testing
