 Rodney Smith is a business journalist, broadcaster, and economic commentator. He is also an analyst and advises on the corporate and mining industries. He has reported for and presented leading BBC news and current affairs programmes, writes regularly, has moderated conference panels for the World Economic Forum; the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and others.
 For many years he conducted an annual seminar for American undergraduate students on the politics and economics of the European Union. He has also anchored programmes for CNN and Reuters, was foreign business editor at ABC News in the 1980s, and business news anchor on Good Morning America, and World News Tonight with Peter Jennings.
 Rodney Smith has been an investment banker and stockbroker, He joined the Financial Times after an early career as a management trainee in banking and mining engineer. He has also advised on public relations matters and serves pro bono on several committees and charities.
