Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Maastricht and Emeritus Professor of Tax Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Held appointments at Harvard University, New York University, and the College of Europe at Bruges. Served previously at the International Monetary Fund. Has been consultant to the IMF, OECD, World Bank, European Commission, US-AID and Harvard Institute for International Development (HIID), in which capacity he advised some 30 countries on the design and implementation of their tax systems. Past editor of De Economist and International Tax and Public Finance. Published numerous books and articles on the economics of taxation. |
