02: Sharing Knowledge: Communication in Medicine
In this breakout session, we will discuss the role of communication between doctors and patients and between members and non-members of the scientific community. How can medical knowledge be passed on to non-experts in a way that they understand it? Which information do patients need to be able to make appropriate treatment decisions? How can they be equipped with an adequate understanding of their diseases and therapies? How can the communication between doctors, other health care professionals and patients be improved? How can we support patients in actively making the right health decisions?
