05: The Potential of the Alps: Focus Sustainable Use of Resources
(Meeting point shuttle bus station Böglerhof, 8.30 a.m.)
Dealing efficiently with scarce resources is more and more becoming a key factor for economic development and the quality of life. Because of their natural conditions the Alps are eminently suited for scientific investigation and practice of innovative use of resources. In the working group we will discuss how mountain research makes a vital contribution to the sustainable use of resources; in addition, taking as an example the raw material timber, the potential use for industry and society will be demonstrated. The working group will provide recommendations how multilateral cooperation can contribute to a profitable development of the Alps.
