European Forum Alpbach in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth
The coordination of economic policies within the European Union was comprehensively improved in the face of the crisis. Against the background of further proposals, including the “Blueprint” of the European Commission, we will discuss opportunities for improvements in structural policy and potential barriers based on the experience gained in recent years. In which areas does more harmonisation make sense economically and in which areas would it be preferable to apply the principle of subsidiarity? How can economic synergies, lean political processes and democratic legitimacy be combined?
