06: The Cost of the City of the Future – Socio-Economic Aspects of Smart Cities

-
Hauptschule
Breakout /
in deutscher Sprache

Megatrends like urbanisation and climate change will determine the future of cities, where – as predicted by the OECD – six billion people will live by 2050. The vision of a smart city stands for intelligent and sustainable solutions – a city of the future, in which individual quality of life and development opportunities, participation and inclusion will be guaranteed as well as the economic quality of location. Booz & Company assess the requirement of investment in urban infrastructure to be about 350 billion US-dollars within the next 30 years, which is five times the global national product.
