12: Design Thinking and Open Innovation – The Customer is King
Innovation processes are no longer defined as purely technological, and increasingly they do not run along predetermined scientific lines, but take place as social processes. Users perspectives and user participation are no longer complementary considerations that lie at the end of the process, but have to be the starting points instead. New democratic and interdisciplinary innovation cultures emerge to tackle the multi-faceted challenges and demands on societies. This working group will present important assessments, methods and practical examples from science and industry.
