German and English languageTourism is an important expression of lifestyle and wellbeing. It is also a central economic factor with considerable potential for growth and employment, both in Europe and in Austria. An initial plenary session will look at why sustainability strategies can help to strengthen competitiveness in tourism, and what challenges should be born in mind. The group will then split up to discuss the topics “leisure and wellness as contributions to added value” and “travel agencies in the value added chain”. Workshop 1: The leisure industry gives strong impulses to the labour market. These are founded on an ever-increasing life-expectancy and on a pronounced consciousness of health issues.
Workshop 2: How can travel agencies contribute to a sustainable and competitive tourism? What are the local and national effects of incoming and outgoing?
