By the year 2003 the human genome, consisting of 3 billion chemical bases or 100,000 genes, will be deciphered. This knowledge will revolutionize biomedical research and enable us to gain new insights into human nature. Only if we deal responsibly and fair with this knowledge we can create a basis for its useful application.
