The movie “Le Meraviglie” (The Wonders) by the young producer Alice Rohrwacher is a fable of Italian country life and a sensitive coming-of-age story, which won the Jury Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014. Producer Carlo Cresto-Dina discusses the movie with us and shows a few clips from his newest production “Le ultime cose” (The Last Things) as a sneak preview.

Carlo CRESTO-DINA

Film Producer, tempesta Film, Bologna-London

 In 1999 C. Cresto-Dina started the documentary and short film section of Fandango Films in Rome under which he produced a string of award winning feature documentaries and debut films including "For India" (2004) by Sandhya Suri, which premiered at Sundance International Competition and was listed by the New York Times "10 Best film of the year". Other titles include "Calle 54" (2001) by Academy Award Winner Fernando Trueba, "Super 8 Stories" (2002) by Emir Kusturica and the international hit "Tickets" (2005) directed by Ken Loach, Abbas Kiarostami and Ermanno Olmi.
 In Italy he conceived and managed "Real Cinema", an innovative distribution concept which published more than 80 titles and sold almost 1M copies through the prestigious label of Giangiacomo Feltrinelli publishing house.
 In 2009 Carlo Cresto-Dina founded tempesta, a new film production company based in London and Bologna. The company s first film "Corpo Celeste", the debut feature by Alice Rohrwacher, premiered at Cannes 2011 and was subsequently invited to Sundance, London, Dubai, Rio and won several prestigious international awards including the "Ingmar Bergman International Award for Best Debut Film".
 Tempesta s next feature "L intervallo" by Leonardo Di Costanzo premiered at Venice 2012 where it won the FIPRESCI International Award, and after Toronto, London, Lisboa was selected for the prestigious New York MoMA "New Directors New Films" event.
 Carlo Cresto-Dina s production "Le Meraviglie" (The Wonders) written and directed by Alice Rohrwacher, an Italy French Germany Switzerland coproduciotn, won the Jury Gran Prize at Cannes Film Festival 2014. In 2014 tempesta produced the family film "Asino Vola" (Donkey flies) which premiered at Locarno Film Festival 2015. Tempesta s recent projects include "Fräulein" written and directed by Caterina Carone, the TV Series "Tell me more" and "The last things" debut feature by Irene Dionisio to be premiered at Venice Film Festival 2016. In 2015 Carlo Cresto-Dina opned tempesta film uk in London which is presently producing its first film "Wildfire" by BAFTA winner Cathy Brady.
