But Beautiful – Film Screening and Discussion
German with English subtitles Pre-screening
Filmmaker Erwin Wagenhofer is not choosing the easy way. In his latest film BUT BEAUTIFUL he seeks the beautiful and the good and portraits people who are breaking new ground. What could a good and successful life look like? Is a “different” life possible at all? The result is a film about perspectives without fear, about connectedness in music, nature and society, about people with different ideas but a great common goal: a sustainable world. Afterwards the filmmaker will be joined in conversation by the successful entrepreneur and one of the protagonists of the documentary, Erwin Thoma, on the role of businesses in this process of transformation.

Dr. Erwin THOMA
Chief Executive Officer, Ing. Erwin Thoma Holz GmbH; Entrepreneur; Author, Goldegg
Forester, business economist, entrepreneur, author Erwin Thoma was born in 1962 and grew up in Bruck am Großglockner (Austria). His love for nature made him decide early to become a forester. The encounter with violin makers, woodcutters and carpenters, who taught him old wood knowledge, were very important for him. He also uses this knowledge in his wood construction company to build houses from 100 percent wood - with his Holz100 construction system, an international patent application. With the Holz100 system, it is possible to build absolutely healthy houses, that are waste-free, 100% recyclable as houses and energy self-sufficient for heating and cooling. Erwin Thoma takes us into a world that has become foreign to many of us: life with the forest, the fascination of trees and the good life with wood. He describes trees as companions - they are lived experiences. Erwin Thoma is father of three children and lives with his wife Karin in Goldegg. |
