02: Wartime Journalism: The Case of Ukraine

-

in englischer Sprache

What is the difference between propaganda and journalism in the 21st century? What is the role of journalism during hybrid conflicts? Can journalism contribute to problem-solving if it focuses on the background and reasons for conflict and reflects on the way out of the situation, as opposed to a primary focus on factual reporting? Alongside these theoretical notions, our session will introduce practical experiences of the various paths that journalists have taken during the current conflict in Ukraine: some become entangled in information wars; others strive for more detached, fact-based reporting.
