03: Losing Out: Paths to Radicalism?

At the beginning of the 21st century, key political, economic and cultural trends appear to affect the cohesion of European society. Resulting nationalism and other sorts of antagonism are spawning different kinds of extremism with the potential to endanger the foundations of our society. Alienated by incomprehensible and apparently irrelevant political and economic discourses in a hyper- globalised world, the individual feels increasingly powerless. Reflecting upon these tendencies, why and how are modern day citizens feeling like radical outsiders?
