04: Arbeiterkind.de – The Initiative for (All Who Want to Be) the First in Their Families to Go to University
Arbeiterkind.de is a charitable initiative with 6,000 voluntary mentors in 75 local groups across Germany. It encourages school pupils from families in which nobody has yet studied to go to university and accompanies them from the start of their studies until their successful graduation. Alongside the internet platform arbeiterkind.de, the mentors run information events in schools and universities and offer regular gatherings and consulting hours for pupils, students and parents.
