04: Intellectual Property – A System at the Crossroads?

-

in deutscher Sprache

Will patents, trademarks, designs and copyright still serve as guarantees in tomorrow’s business world? Intellectual property and its legal protection are decisive for investment in innovations, economic growth and prosperity. However, this system is increasingly under discussion: extremely long procedures, lawsuits over vast sums of money, trolls and product piracy are considered as threats “inherent in the system”; open source movements challenge the system “from the outside”. Which changes are to be expected for the European economic area? What are the challenges and opportunities for the business community?
