11: All the Same – All Different?

Discussion around InEquality in societies is as old as those societies themselves. Some point to “the power of diversity”; others to a “desire for equality”. Everyday, we are confronted by practical questions arising from this conflict. How much equality does the EU need and how much inequality can enrich it? How can Austria set itself apart in international competition “i.e. be unequal” and hence strengthen itself as a business location? How tailored does a product offer need to be, or how equal can it be, in an increasingly individualised consumer world? It is the question of the bespoke product versus the mass-produced.
