The intergenerational transmission of human capital seems to be crucial for providing equality of opportunity. Intergenerational correlations of education, income and wealth between parents and their children indicate a range of different results between OECD countries. What are the different kinds of transmission and what implications do these have for macro-economic development? How should economic policy react to these challenges?
