Investments play a key role for economic growth and employment. According to the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) the investment gap in the Euro area amounts to approximately 2 percent of GDP or 180 billion EUR per year. In this breakout session we will discuss the potential of the Juncker Investment Programme of a potential 315 billion EUR, the ECB’s role in boosting investments, as well as the barriers to private investment activities (access to finance, lack of confidence, dire economic straits).
