Into the Silence: Hope

-
Kirche
Plenary /
in englischer Sprache

Despite all its activities and achievements, Europe currently seems to be strangely poor in hope. Actually, the future perspectives are bleak: the consequences of climate change, migration crises, demographic change or global processes of a world that is becoming increasingly unequal throw their shadows into the present. What can, should or should one hope in such a time? With what arguments? And what is hope anyway? Regina Polak explores these questions from a theological point of view. As, from a Christian point of view, hope is one of the virtues of faith and is a gift of grace from God. Regina Polak shows how the memory of biblical times can help to develop a kind of hope which is well-founded and learned (Ernst Bloch).
