To properly deal with the challenges ahead, many experts and initiatives identify education as a top priority in political agendas worldwide. Professor Katherine Weare is known as a leading international expert in the area of mindfulness in education and will share insights and experiences from her research and programmes, which have informed policy and practice in many countries.

Professor, University of Exeter and University of Southampton

 Katherine Weare is Professor at University of Exeter where she directs the MSc in Mindfulness and Professor emeritus at University of Southampton. Katherine is known internationally for her work on well-being, social and emotional learning and mindfulness in education. She has published widely, reviewed the evidence base, advised the UK government, EU and WHO, and developed practical strategies across most European countries. Her recent best selling book, co-written with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh ‘Happy Teachers Change The World’ is being translated into 10 languages. She is principle investigator on a new initiative with Mind and Life Europe to develop a new 'Community of Contemplative Education Europe'.

Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher; Multimedial Art Therapist; Artist, Vienna

 Helga Luger-Schreiner is an art teacher, art therapist, certified mindful self-compassion trainer, meta-meditation teacher, Montessori teacher and artist. On behalf of the City School Board of Vienna, she developed the concept of the project "Mindfulness in Schools and Teacher Training" and leads this project at the ZLB, University of Vienna. She is co-developer and lecturer of the master's program "Mindfulness in Education, Consulting and Healthcare" at the KPH Vienna. She founded and led a free school with focus on mindfulness and creativity. She is a lecturer at arbor-seminare and at the competence center for children and adolescents. With POWERful-heART she offers workshops that combine artistic processes with mindfulness and self-compassion training.
