The SDG Index by Bertelsmann Stiftung and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network has been assessing country performance on the Sustainable Development Goals on an annual basis since 2015 (www.sdgindex.org). Its motivation is to raise awareness for the historical commitments and to facilitate peer-learning towards implementing the SDGs. What are the most pressing issues that countries face? What can be learnt from best practices?

Dr. Christian KROLL
Senior Expert, Bertelsmann Stiftung, Gütersloh
| Dr. Christian Kroll is the Scientific Co-Director of the SDG Index and Dashboards to measure country performance on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Christian was honoured for his work as one of 100 Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum in 2018, alongside distinguished leaders from around the globe. He works as Senior Expert for Sustainable Development at Bertelsmann Stiftung. He authored numerous articles in scientific journals and policy-oriented reports, including "Sustainable Development Goals: Are the rich countries ready" with a foreword by Kofi Annan. He is also a Guest Lecturer at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, where he developed the country’s first university course on the SDGs. He taught classes at the London School of Economics and held academic positions at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government as well as Jacobs University Bremen. Christian gained a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a thesis entitled "Towards a Sociology of Happiness". His research has featured in national and international media such as the Harvard Business Review, Washington Post, Le Monde, Die Zeit, ARD, Spiegel Online among others. |
MA Susan MYERS

| Susan Myers is the UN Foundation’s Senior Vice President. Ms. Myers has served as Executive Director of the New York office of the United Nations Foundation since 2000. As a member of the Foundation's leadership team, she provides overall guidance and participates in the development of long-term strategy for the organization. Previously, she served as Legislative Director of the Better World Campaign, a bi-partisan, non-profit national education and outreach effort dedicated to enhancing the awareness of and appreciation for the vital role the United Nations plays around the world. In this position, she led successful campaigns for the payment of over $1 billion in U.S. arrears to the UN and for the re-entry of the U.S. to UNESCO (the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) after an 18-year absence from the organization. | |
| Susan holds a B.A. from Duke University and an M.A. from the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. Previous experience includes working in the Governmental Relations and Public Affairs Office of the Legal Services Corporation and Governmental Affairs Office of the American Bar Association. She has also served on the boards of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and Citizens for Global Solutions. |

| Ban Ki-moon has had an extensive career as a senior representative, policy maker and diplomat of the Republic of Korea. Following a stint as ambassador to Austria, Ban returned to Seoul as vice-minister of foreign affairs In 2003 he became foreign policy adviser to the new president, Roh Moo Hyun. As minister of foreign affairs and trade from 2004 to 2006, Ban played a key role in the six-party talks aimed at denuclearizing North Korea. The Harvard University Alumni was elected as United Nations Secretary General in 2006 and held this position form 2007 to 2016. He currently holds more than a dozen prestigious Chairmanships inter alia at the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens and at the Boao Forum for Asia. |
