17: The RenAIssance: Brave New World
Some see it as the beneficial driving force of “The Digital Revolution”, others speak of it as “Our Final Invention”. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is considered one of the key technologies of the 21st century, deemed likely to reshape significant parts of economy and our society alike.
In this seminar, we critically assess the chances and risks posed by the expected large-scale introduction of artificially intelligent technology. We look at how individuals and societies can prepare for the advent of AI. What are the plausible economic, political, social, and personal ramifications of mechanised intelligence? What are the accompanying ethical, technological, sociological, and educational questions which we will have to answer?
