11: European Security – Moving towards resilience?

-

What does resilience mean, and how could an integration of diverse perspectives be helpful when facing modern security threats? Strategic autonomy is defined as a central goal in 2016’s EU Global Strategy (EU-GS), and many efforts and decisions were made in 2017 to foster European Defence Research, Defence Capabilities, and Defence Cooperation amongst member states. Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) is seen as a key to promoting and strengthening cooperation and effectiveness. NATO is still the key security actor regarding ‘old fashioned’ territorial defence? And, bearing in mind the current shift in US security policy, is NATO still the player it was during the Cold War?
