09: Quantum Technologies – a New Era of Innovation

-
Hauptschule
Seminar /
in englischer Sprache

Quantum physics is the basis of our fundamental understanding of the natural world. It has already given rise to a huge range of everyday applications. The ability to prepare and manipulate quantum features at the single-particle level heralds a whole new era in quantum technology. The seminar will provide an introduction to the subject as well as an overview of the current state of the art and of future possibilities.

Quantum Showcase Austria
20.08.2019 – 22.08.2019, Congress Centrum Alpbach
Representatives of the Innsbruck quantum research at the University of Innsbruck, the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and the quantum startup AQT demonstrate the storage and cooling of atoms. They explain how new sensors and watches, e.g. can be built as an improved GPS with centimeter resolution and how to be internationally involved in the revolution of problems such as chemistry, logistics and finance. The explanations to the basic research are complemented by details for the realization of the first Austrian, commercially successful quantum computer.
