How can we visualise free speech? Students from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London will attempt to create the atmosphere of Speakers’ Corner, which has been a traditional place of public debate since the mid-nineteenth century. Even now, anyone can speak on any topic at Hyde Park in London without any notice, so long as the police deem the speech to fall within the scope of the law. Come closer and listen to Nancy Reagan’s speech ‘Just Say No!’, Elie Wiesel’s ‘The Perils of Indifference’ and Nellie McClung’s ‘Should Men Vote?’.
Following these historical speeches, the entire team of the European Forum Alpbach
welcomes all participants and scholarship holders to mark the start of this year’s ‘Festival of Ideas’.

Rachel BARNWELL

| Rachel Barnwell is a London based actor from Chesham in Buckinghamshire. She was a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and now is training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where she will graduate in July 2020. Before going to drama school she performed with London based repertory theatre company Fourth Monkey where her theatre credits included: As you like it, A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Trinity Buoy Wharf studios in London and Rapunzel and Hansel & Gretel performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015. She also performed Theresa Rebeck’s Seminar at Camden’s Etcetera Theatre, London with Greenwood Theatre Company. Her credits whilst training at Rada include: King Lear (Shakespeare), The Oresteia (Aeschylus), The Provoked Wife (John Vanbrugh) and As you like it (Shakespeare). |
Daniel BOWERBANK

| Daniel Bowerbank is a BA (Hons) in Acting student at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Prior to training at RADA, attended the Arts Educational Schools London (ArtsEd) where, having attained one of only three prestigious scholarships offered, trained in acting, as well as dance (styles including: Ballet, Modern,Jazz, and Contemporary), and in singing. At RADA roles played include: Dr Lvov in "Ivanov" by Anton Chekhov, Laertes in "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare, Kreon in "The Theban Trilogy" in an adaptation by Timberlake Wertenbaker of Sophocles’ original works, Tom Fashion in "The Relapse" by John Vanbrugh, and most recently as Duke Senior, William and Charles the Wrestler in 2As You Like It" by William Shakespeare. |

| Leonard Buckley is a London-based actor, musician and visual artist from Dublin, Ireland. His theatre credits as an actor, composer and dramaturge include: "Outlying Islands", dir. Mark Atkinson Borrull (Sugarglass Theatre / Samuel Beckett Theatre); "The David Fragments", dir. Nicholas Johnson (SBT; Greenwood Theatre, London); "Pseudaria" (Felicity Theatre / Live Collision 2017); "Love À La Mode" (Felicity / Smock Alley Scene + Heard 2017), the award-nominated "Gays Against the Free State!" (Tiger Dublin Fringe 2016), "God’s Ear" (Felicity / SBT), dir. Colm Summers; and the award-winning "Enemy of the Stars", dir. Nicholas Johnson & Colm Summers (SBT; Fez International Theatre Festival, Morocco). He has also published illustrations, poetry and literary criticism in publications across Dublin, Edinburgh and the Netherlands, including "T-JoLT", "Icarus Magazine", "Crows Nest Zine", and "Brill". In 2016, he graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a first-class honours B.A. in English Literature. |
Phoenix DI SEBASTIANI

| Phoenix Di Sebastiani is a London-based actor who was born in Rome, Italy, but was raised in England. Scott GUTTERIDGE

| Scott Gutteridge began acting when he was 16 years old, joining Llanelli Youth Theatre (LYT) in South Wales. Some of his theatre credits with LYT, National Theatre of Wales and National Theatre Connections include ZEUS (Homer’s ‘Iliad’), Alex DeLarge (A Clockwork Orange), Rev. John Hale (The Crucible), Lysander/Puck (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), King Henry (Henry V), Scott (Tomorrow I’ll Be Happy), Dieter Ackerman (The Edelweiss Pirates), Tubbsy (Heritage), Carl (Buggerall) and Sonny (Grease). Having studied for 2 years at RADA, Scott has also played King Lear (King Lear) and Orlando (As You Like It) as part of the course. He now embarks on his 3rd and final year before graduating. |

Saura LIGHTFOOT LEON

| Saura Lightfoot Leon is 21 years old. Born in Leiden in the Netherlands, Saura is half Spanish half English. She grew up with her parents who work at the Netherlands Dance Theatre. After completing her studies in the British School in the Netherlands, Saura attends Rada where she is now in her final year of BA Acting training. Saura discovered her passion for performing in acting classes in The Hague’s youth theatre ‘Rabarber’ as well as taking workshops led by ISTA and the New York Film Academy prior to her training at RADA. Saura went to participate in a charity project in Dhaka (Bangladesh) with her parents in 2014 where they gave workshops to street children, giving them an opportunity to express themselves through the creativity of their physicality. Saura’s also appeared several times in her parents choreographies on film. Saura’s interests are spoken word, yoga, dancing and drawing. |
Harmony ROSE-BREMNER

| Harmony Rose-Bremner is about to enter her third year of the BA Acting course at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. During her training she has participated in a number of projects including "As You Like It" by William Shakespeare playing Rosalind, "The Theban Trilogy" by Sophocles playing Antigone and "Measure for Measure" by William Shakespeare playing Isabella. Prior to RADA she has been involved in a number of short and feature films, including "Carousel" (2016), directed by Kal Webber and "The Dark Mike" (2017), directed by Gary Love. Alongside acting, she is also very passionate about music. She studied flute, piano and voice at the City of Edinburgh Music School participated in Edinburgh Fringe Festival every year from 2010-2017 in range of musicals. There roles include Leading Player in "Pippin", Ti Moune in "Once on This Island" and Emma in "Jekyll and Hyde". |
Nona SHEPPHARD

| Nona Shepphard is a freelance writer, director and deviser with over 150 productions and 40 commissioned plays to her credit. Her plays for a young audience recieved several awards and have been presented in the USA, Canada, Europe and Russia. Among her most recent writings are: "Signs of a Star-Shaped Diva" for GraeaeTheatre Company/Theatre Royal Stratford and Therese Raquin a musical version of Emile Zola's novel. She is the Associate Director of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and Creative Director of RADA Enterprises. |
