10: The European Union as a Regional and Global Security Actor

in englischer SpracheAs outlined in the European Security Strategy (ESS) agreed in December
2003, the European Union (EU), through its Common Foreign and Security
Policy (CFSP) including its European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP),
will aim at establishing itself as a regional and global actor in crisis
management. The Seminar will summarize the historical developments in
order to achieve a better understanding of the current issues. The main
focus, however, will be on the ongoing discussions as well as on actual
developments, providing a critical look into the subjects in question. With
regards to the political discourse(s) within the EU possible future
developments will be outlined.

| Fraser Cameron is Director of the EU-Russia Centre. He is also Director of EuroFocus-Brussels, an adjunct professor at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and Senior Advisor at the European Policy Centre (EPC), Brussels. |
