3 – The future of religions
1. Religion and international politics: source of conflict or fundament for lasting peace. The Weltethos project of Küng versus the thesis of Huntington (clash of civilizations).
2. Religion and internal politics: language of legitimation (civil relgion) or critical political theology? With a historical perspective (cf. Bekennende Kirch versus Reichskirche).
3. Religion and the soul of Europe: how do Catholic and Protestant Churches can contribute to the contruction of a European (Multi?)-culture.
4. Society needs leadership (in a very broad sense, see the UN document Our Common Neighbourhood), but there is no leadership without spirituality. How can spirituality contribute to shaping the basic conditions for a civic commitment of citizens and their leaders?
