Technology Workshop: Innovative Internet technologies for intelligent, sustainable and integrative growth

-
Hauptschule
Breakout /
in deutscher Sprache

The grids for accessing the internet are the technological basis for the further development of the information society. In order to be able to process ever-increasing volumes of data, these infrastructures which today mainly consist of copper lines will have to be replaced by glass fibre components.
On this basis the degree of integration between all the players of the “knowledge-based economy” will increase and the use of the internet via IP-based services will become more effective. At the centre of all this there will be a high-performance internet (Next-Generation-Network) with convergent devices.
The first part of the workshop will deal with the question who will renew Austria s internet infrastructures. Who will cooperate with whom under what conditions, and which services will really be needed in the future?
Part two will elusidate the technological challenges that a “future internet” will pose for research and innovation policy on a European and on a national level.
