Inequality of Opportunity – Causes, Impact and Interventions

in englischer Sprache

“Social mobility” describes the process by which individuals or groups move between different socio-economic levels. What role do factors such as access to education and integration play in enabling upwards social mobility? When a society loses the possibility of upward economic mobility what impact does this have on the labour market and the wider economy? What structural changes do we need in order to provide the conditions for social mobility and at the same time to resolve the discrepancy between high unemployment and available positions?
